This ruler was born out of frustration. When I made my own marking gauge, the hardest part wasn’t the woodwork — it was trusting the ruler to be accurate.
So I drew this ruler accurately at 1/8″ and 1/16″ increments, and added a precise drill mark for a pin or nail. Press the pin into the wood, and the ruler becomes a depth stop you can rely on. The first inch has the legend for reference of fractions.
Used on its own, it’s a simple, trustworthy shop ruler. Built into a marking gauge, it becomes a teaching tool — when you make the head, you’ll practice real joinery skills like mortise and tenon along the way.
Accurate measurement builds confidence. Confidence builds better work.
